Consider two parallel edge dislocations of the same sign on parallel glide planes, which are five Burgers vectors apart. One of the dislocations is immobile, but the other reacts to an applied shear stress equal to 0.01 G (shear modulus) which is perpendicular to the mobile dislocation and acts on its glide plane. How close are the two dislocations when the mobile one stops?
